We made it to Heathrow. We are sitting in the airport waiting for a cheaper rate to travel to central London. The flights today went smoothly. My first flight from DET metro was cancelled, so they put me on a flight that actually got me to Chicago a little sooner. I met up with the girls from the team on the tram between Terminals. Next we flew on British Airways to Heathrow (about 7 hour flight). I sat beside a European couple (Deutschanland). It was very nice, but I didn’t sleep much, surprisingly since I’m so tired. Anyways we arrived in London at about 7:30 a.m. My computer tells me that its about 2:30 in the morning back home. Most of you are sleeping. I wish I had a way to let you know we made it this far safely. We have a layover here for about 14 hours. So, still a long ways to go, but about halfway done with the flying time.
Happy 4th of July! We’ve been walking around central London. We saw Big Ben and the outside of Westminster—St. James Park, Buckingham Palace (where we saw the changing of the guard), Picadilly square, found a McDonalds and ate lunch. It’s about 2:00 p.m. here and we are all crashing for a little time to rest. We will probably go see the Tower of London on our way back to the airport.
That's awesome that you got to hang out in London! I sat in Heathrow for 7 hours on my trip. :P But I'll get to spend the night in London on the way back! I hope Uganda is awesome, and I look forward to hearing how it goes!
